Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of 59 years , survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Blashill); proud and loving father of Deborah, the late Anita Howe (Ed), Virginia Zazulak (Mario Chrétien), and the late William (Bill) Orton , and special family friend Darlene Kehoe; grandfather of Maxine Zazulak, Derek and Devon Howe, and great grandfather to Madeline Howe. Treasured friend of Norman and Joey. Veteran of the RCAF, DND Civil Service, past president of the Ottawa Royals Soccer Club.
A public memorial service and inurnment will take place Friday May 15, 2015 at Beechwood Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness or a donation to a charity of your choice would be a thoughtful gesture.
Our many thanks go to staff at the Riverside Dialysis Unit, the urgent care teams at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, to Dr. Tara Tucker and the hospice care team, the caring nurses and PSWs of Carefor, especially Abdullai, all of whom made it possible for Derek to pass away in the serenity of his own home.
