Dr. George Robert Irvin Power

Peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the age of 96 years. Predeceased by his parents Captain Irvin Bernard and Vera Alberta Power. Bob is the beloved husband of Rose for 72 years, and loving father of Brian Power (Anna), Dianne Power, Sandra MacLeod and dear family friend Celine Aubin, Lynn Blumas and Partner (Terry Kuipers), former son in law Art Blumas and Gail (Roger Ward). He is also the proud grandfather of Craig, Shawn (Katheryn) and Jason Power (Kristen) , Ryan Clifford and the late Alicia Clifford, Melanie (Andrew) Hamill, Christopher MacLeod (Anne) Trevor, Jaclyn and Alli Blumas, Taylor (Jacqueline), Elise (Ian) and Tess Ward and great-grandfather of Lilly, Hazel, Benjamin, Elowen , Odin, Aya and Pheonix. Born and raised in Yarmouth NS, Bob studied medicine at Dalhousie University and practiced medicine in the Canadian Armed Forces and headed up the Radiology Department at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. As Lt. Colonel in WW2, he served in India with the Burma Bombers.The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial will be held for Bob at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those who desire, kindly consider a donation to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Bob was loved by so many family and friends it was important to him that he left this world a better place and he did. We love and miss you and may the "Force be with you.”
