Elijah Alan Martin Shirey

Elijah Alan Martin Shirey was born July 29, 2017 at 1:07 a.m. weighing 7 lbs. 15 oz. Even before he entered this world, he had passed from this world - knowing only the warmth and comfort of his mother’s womb. We don’t know when his little heart stopped beating, but our hearts will never stop beating for him. For even as our arms are empty, our hearts are full of love for this little one whose presence has changed us forever. We covet your prayers as we and our families celebrate his short life and grieve our great loss. Elijah is survived by his loving parents Rebekah Shirey and Steve Martin; grandparents Beth and Al Fleming, Lee-Pierre Shirey and David Richards, Elisabeth and Neville Martin. He will be missed by his sisters and brothers Alysha Miller, Daniella Granzotto, Emily Granzotto Martin, Zachary Martin, Lucas Granzotto Martin, Stephen Granzotto Martin and Noah Shirey; aunts and uncles Nathan and Isabelle Shirey, Sarah Shirey and Matt Boyle, Leah Shirey, James and Barbara Martin, Anthony and Jacquie Martin, Tim Martin, Margaret Martin Graves and Ted Graves, Chris Martin, Jennifer and Henry Janzen, Lesley and Phil Provart; cousins Jake, Maggie, PJ (with whom he's now holding hands), Spencer, Maxwell, Jonathan, Nicholas, Skipper, Clara; and yes, his nieces and nephew Ava, Ben and Maisie. “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven - a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to mourn and a time to dance.” In lieu of a gift of flowers a bereavement fund has been set up for the Martin Shirey family.
