My condolences to the family.  I have known George since I started playing soccer way back.  He gave me the most amount of red cards of all time.  But George always brought smiles to everyone. He ref'd many of my games from a young teen to an oldtimer and ref'd many of my teams I have coached.  He was always a gentleman and always wanted to have a friendly chat with everyone.  I am shocked to hear this news and will be very sad not to see him on the fields. Soccer in Ottawa won't be the same and the community has lost a great guy.  Lots of courage to the whole family.

I got to know George like so many through the soccer circles, first as the Head Ref for the Nepean Hotspurs where both my kids still play and second as a friend , I enjoyed the many chats we had together at the Ben Franklin Dome and third through the friendship my wife shared every day with Lourance.

George always had a smile on his face. when he would come into the bank, I would serve him and he was always so happy and was telling me about how he has errands to run for his wife all day. Such a loving husband ! Marcus, your dad is so proud of you and you now have a guardian angel !

I was very saddened by the news about George passing away at such a young age.  George always went out of his way to chat with me before soccer games despite knowing many players and coaches. Adding that personal touch was just his way. Also knew him through the RA.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.

I met George in the early 70s when he was playing for the ottawa Royals, I was with the Ottawa Falcons as a young 17 years old then. George and I remained friends for many years after that.

Classy man you were George as a player and later as a Referee. Respected by all the family of the Soccer community in Ottawa and area. I will miss you.  Till we meet again my friend.....!!!! Rest in Peace and god bless you and grant you the paradise you deserve.

Fair well dear George,

You left us far too soon. If we could have you back for one more moment, we would tell you how our profound grief is the measure of our deep respect and grateful acknowledgment that you always loved us too. You came into our lives almost fifty years ago. You were and still are a profound presence. We will never forget you. Who could? 

You were the best and most honest of of humanity and it was a privilege to have known you as a most cherished brother-in-law and dearly loved uncle to our children. You were an amazing Dad to Marcus, Matt and Sarah. So proud, so loving and unfailingly supportive.

George, I've known you since I moved to the city 12 years ago. You fought so hard and came back better than ever.
