Gerry is survived by his loving spouse of 42 years Cathy Honeywell (Boucher), beloved father of Beth (Gord), Adam (Paulina), Sarah (Josh) and Tracy (Ryan). Gerry was a devoted and proud grandfather of Emily, Olivia, Patrick, Caleb, Asher, Theo and Cecily. Dear brother of the late Leona (Arnold), Noreen (David), Teresa (the late Les), Patrick (Jean), Louis (Patricia), Brian (Debbie), Lorne (June) and Norman. Forever remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his in-laws Bernie and Carol Boucher, Stephen, Dawna, Judi and the late Barbara (Alex).
Gerry grew up on the family homestead on Manotick Station Rd with his parents William and Marjorie and his 8 siblings. He was the sole proprietor of “G.W. Dewan Electric” and a true fixture in a small town where everybody knew his name. Whether he was on the job as an electrician or quietly showing up for a neighbour in need, his generosity left a mark on countless hearts. He was the steady rock of our family and a constant source of strength, wisdom and unconditional love. If he wasn’t out helping someone you could find him with a cold one with his buddies telling an old story.
The family will receive relatives and friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass on Saturday September 5, 2026 at 11 am at St.John the Evangelist Church, 2540 Stagecoach Road, Enniskerry. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Gerry`s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. A Celebration of Gerry`s life, will be held following the interment, at the Osgoode Legion, 3284 Sunstrum Street.
“Forever remembered, forever loved.”
