Gilbert "Gib" Gauvreau

Peacefully, on February 8, 2018 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Doreen Theresa Gauvreau (McNamara). We celebrate the life that Gib, as dad, grand-dad, and great grandfather lived. He had a proud 35 year career in the Canadian Airforce, followed by seven years with the Department of Supply & Services. Loving father of Mark (Jocelyne), Robert (Liz), Paul and Michelle (Kevin). Dear brother of Carmen Dillon, and predeceased by brother-in-law Jerry Dillon. Predeceased by brother Paul Gauvreau. Proud grand-dad of Natalie (Matt), Christine (Andrew), Connor (Sarah), Mike, Ryan, Stacey and Pat, and proud great grand-dad to Tyler, Smith, Alix & Parker. Dad will be remembered as always saying yes to a challenge or opportunity that enhanced his life and the life of his family. His fortitude and perseverance were qualities he passed on to his family. He loved keeping busy at the cottage which became the central meeting place for family & friends. So when the sun paints the sky in the west at the end of the day, we will continue to stand on the shores of Black Bay at the cottage and remember Gib “…see you later dad, grand-dad, great grand-dad, God Bless.” Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Thursday, February 15 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel. In memory of Gib, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are gratefully appreciated.
