Guy Bonhomme

La famille Bonhomme a l’immense tristesse de vous annoncer le décès de monsieur Guy Bonhomme, survenu au Centre de soins de longue durée Montfort d’Ottawa. Natif de Maniwaki, ville à laquelle il restera attaché, il était le fils de feu Lionel Bonhomme, ingénieur et homme d’affaires, et de feu Alma Lee, infirmière, qu’il vénérait. Il laisse dans le deuil l’amour de sa vie des 64 dernières années, Paulette Nadon; leurs quatre enfants, Marc, Claude, Pierre et Elizabeth Marie; leurs six petits-enfants, Marie-Ève, Véronique, Guy-Alexandre, Valentine-Geneviève, Frédéric et Jérémie ainsi que leurs deux arrière-petits-enfants, Félix et Laurence. Il laisse également son frère Georges; ses belles-filles, Jacqueline Loiselle, Lyne Dufault et Micheline Roy-Bonhomme; ses belles-soeurs, Joan Alie, Bernadette et Isabelle Bonhomme, Suzette et Madeleine Nadon; plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et de nombreux amis. L’ont précédé ses frères Jean et Lionel, ses belles-soeurs Inès Bonhomme et Claire Nadon, ses beaux-frères les docteurs Gilles et Alban Nadon ainsi qu’Ugo Peruzzi.

Homme compatissant, humble et déterminé, Guy a été un pionnier du Gatineau moderne. Au cours de ses 40 années de carrière (1948 à 1988), il deviendra directeur de Gatineau Lumber, puis président de Matériaux Bonhomme. Il sera aussi directeur des entreprises Bonhomme et de Bytown Lumber. Même à la retraite, il demeurera membre du bureau de direction de la compagnie. Membre fondateur du club Rotary de Gatineau, il fit aussi partie de la Chambre de commerce et des Chevaliers de Colomb. Golfeur passionné, il fut membre du Club de golf Rivermead pendant plus de 30 ans. Époux, père, grand-père et arrière-grand-père attentionné, il manquera grandement à tous.

La famille recevra les condoléances à la Maison funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier, 180 chemin Montréal, le dimanche 12 décembre 2010; heures de visite : de 14 h à 16 h et de 19 h à 21 h. À la demande du défunt, un service religieux sera célébré dans la plus stricte intimité à une date ultérieure et suivi de l’inhumation au cimetière Notre-Dame d’Ottawa. Au lieu de fleurs, vos marques de sympathie peuvent se traduire par un don à la Société canadienne du cancer.

Pour leur dévouement et leurs bons soins, la famille tient à remercier l’équipe de madame Margot Pilon, propriétaire de l’agence Happy Memories Care, le personnel du Centre de soins de longue durée Montfort ainsi que madame Maryse Bouvette, coordonnatrice du programme SCGDS, Soins continus Bruyère.

It is with great sadness that the Bonhomme family announces the death of Mr. Guy Bonhomme, who passed away in Ottawa at the Monfort Long Term Care Center. Son of the late Lionel Bonhomme, who was a businesman and engineer, and of the late Alma Lee, who was a nurse, and for whom he had the greatest veneration, Mr. Bonhomme was born in Maniwaki, a town he remained attached to all his life. He will be forever missed by his love of 64 years, Paulette Nadon; by their four children, Marc, Claude, Pierre and Elizabeth Marie; by their six grandchildren, Marie-Éve, Véronique, Guy-Alexandre, Valentine-Geneviève, Frédéric and Jérémie; by their two great-grandchildren, Félix and Laurence; by his brother Georges; by his daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Loiselle, Lyne Dufault and Micheline Roy-Bonhomme; by his sisters-in-law, Joan Alie, Bernadette and Isabelle Bonhomme, Suzette and Madeleine Nadon; by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and by his many friends. Guy was predeceased by his two brothers, Jean and Lionel; by his sisters-in-law, Inès Bonhomme and Claire Nadon; and by his brothers-in-law, Dr. Gilles Nadon, Dr. Alban Nadon and Ugo Peruzzi.

Guy was a compassionate, humble, and most determined man, and a pionneer of Gatineau. In the course of a forty-year career, from 1948 to 1988, he was managing director of Gatineau Lumber, President of Matériaux Bonhomme, and managing director of Bonhomme Enterprises and of Bytown Lumber. Even in retirement, he remained on the board of Directors of the company. Guy was a founding member of the Gatineau Rotary Club and a member of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Knights of Columbus. Guy was also an avid golfer and a member of the Rivermead Golf Club for more than thirty years. This loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather will be missed by all.

Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home at 180 Montreal Road on Sunday, December 12, 2010; hours of visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. At the request of the deceased, a private religious service will be held at a later date, followed by internment at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family expresses its deepest gratitude for their compassionate care to Mrs. Margot Pilon, owner of Happy Memories Care, and to her staff; to the Monfort Long Term Care Center; and to Mrs. Maryse Bouvette, coordinator of the Bruyère Continuing Care Program.
