Henriette Bisaillon

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès d’Henriette Bisaillon (née Gosselin), survenu le mercredi 22 octobre 2025 à l’Hôpital Civic d’Ottawa, à l’âge de 98 ans. Son décès paisible a couronné une vie longue, bien remplie et déterminée.

Née à Farnham, au Québec, Henriette était la fille de feu d’Henri Gosselin, député, et d’Alda Beaudry, et la sœur bien-aimée de feues Lucille Gosselin-Arbec, Jacqueline Gosselin-Arbic et Ethel Gosselin-McCorkill.

Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Michel (Nathalie) et Julie (François), ainsi que son gendre pour toujours, Scott. Ses petites-filles, Natasha et Michaela, et ses arrière-petits-enfants, Ahmed, Amayah et Aliya, garderont d’elle un souvenir affectueux. Elle laisse également de nombreux neveux, nièces, petits-neveux, petites-nièces et amis. Elle repose désormais auprès de son époux bien-aimé, Robert Bisaillon, décédé le 2 mars 2014.

Henriette était une femme forte, indépendante et d'une loyauté sans faille. Fière de ses origines franco-canadiennes, elle a consacré une grande partie de sa vie à la promotion et à la préservation de la langue française. De ses cours de français donnés au sous-sol de sa maison familiale à son travail au sein du service des langues officielles du gouvernement fédéral, en passant par ses cours particuliers à la résidence pour retraités de Barrhaven et son aide aux enfants pour apprendre à lire en français à l'école primaire Berrigan, la langue était son don, et elle le partageait généreusement.

Artiste et créative, Henriette peignait, cousait, dessinait et s'adonnait à d'innombrables loisirs créatifs au fil des ans. Elle chérissait ses relations et adorait recevoir, que ce soit dans sa maison familiale ou sous le soleil de Floride, où chaleur, convivialité, rires et conversations animées étaient toujours au rendez-vous.

La famille et les amis sont invités à la Maison funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier (180, chemin Montréal, Ottawa) le dimanche 16 novembre 2025, à compter de 10 h. Une cérémonie commémorative aura lieu à la chapelle à midi.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henriette Bisaillon (née Gosselin) on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, at the age of 98. Her peaceful passing was a gentle closing to a long, full, and determined life.

Born in Farnham, Quebec, Henriette was the daughter of the late Henri Gosselin, M.P., and Alda Beaudry, and the cherished sister of the late Lucille Gosselin-Arbec, Jacqueline Gosselin-Arbic, and Ethel Gosselin-McCorkill.

She is survived by her children, Michel (Nathalie) and Julie (François); and her “forever son-in-law,” Scott. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Natasha and Michaela, and her great-grandchildren Ahmed, Amayah, and Aliya. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. She now reunites with her beloved husband, Robert Bisaillon, who predeceased her on March 2, 2014.

Henriette was a strong, independent, and deeply loyal woman. Proud of her French Canadian heritage, she dedicated much of her life to the promotion and preservation of the French language. From teaching French classes in the basement of her family home, to her work in Official Languages for the federal government, to teaching fellow residents in her retirement home in Barrhaven and helping children learn to read in French at Berrigan Elementary School - language was her gift, and she shared it generously.

Artistic and creative, Henriette painted, sewed, drew, and experimented with countless crafts over the years. She treasured her relationships and loved hosting gatherings - whether in the family home or under the Florida sun - where warmth, food, laughter, and spirited conversation were guaranteed.

Family and friends are invited to Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa) on Sunday, November 16, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 12:00 p.m.
