26 September , 1937 – 3 February , 2019
September 26, 1937- February 3, 2019 Surrounded by those he loved, Jim died peacefully and gently on Sunday February 3rd, 2019. Cherished beloved of Marie (all ways, all days), loving and supportive father of Rob (Pam), Lisa (Mads) and Lynne (Chris) and awesome grandpa to Darius, Arya, Matthew and Jack. Jim’s mother Hazel, father Jim, brother Ken and nephew Kent died many years ago. Jim was in business with his family (Howell Plumbing Supplies) in the 1960’s before becoming a teacher with the Ottawa Board of Education as a vocational, co-op and guidance teacher from 1974 to 1998. Upon retirement, he volunteered at MADD Canada, Perley-Rideau and the Ottawa General Hospital. Playing with his four grandsons was a special blessing in his life that gave him much joy. Long time friends brought laughter, support and love to Jim throughout good health and illness. Immense gratitude to the caring staff of 8 West and the palliative team at the General Hospital for their compassion and support. Thank you to Dr. Lacroix and Dr. Rabheru for their years of dedication. Please join our family on Friday, February 8 at 2759 Carousel Crescent to celebrate Jim’s life. Visiting with family from 1:30pm, readings, music and memory sharing at 2:30pm and refreshments to follow. At Jim’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canada Safety Council would be appreciated.
