Beloved wife for 54 years of Michael Chinkiwsky. Loving mother of Michael (deceased 1988), Amy Bekkers (Derek) and Patrick (Nitasha Bali). Fun loving Bubba to Jessie & Burt Bekkers and Milana & Rohan Chinkiwsky.

Dear sister of Joyce Gunderson, Judy Rebman and predeceased by Dr. Mervin Welsh.

Joan will be remembered as someone who enjoyed teaching others, most often through humorous anecdotes. She was able to see adventure in what seemed mundane to others. She taught her children and grandchildren to be firm in what you know, and to question everything appropriately, but most importantly to lighten up.

Visitation on Friday December 30, 2022 from 2 till 5 pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club Road at Albion Road.

Private memorial will be held at a later date.
