She was truly a kind soul—always happy, always smiling, and always accepting of everyone just as they were. Her warmth, kindness, and beautiful spirit made everyone around her feel loved and welcomed.

We feel so lucky and blessed to have been a part of her family and to have shared so many special memories with her. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We will remember her smile, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely. Auntie Joan will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Auntie Joan. You will always be loved and remembered. ❤️

Joan was kind-hearted, soft-spoken, and always looked out for everyone. I will miss her very dearly.

Auntie Joan was a truly kind and caring person and I was blessed to have her in my life.  She was never unkind to anyone and only saw the positive in people.  When I was a kid, she took me to Ottawa to see Princess Diana who was here for her first Canadian tour.  That meant so much to me to have that special day with her and auntie Noreen and getting to see the princess! It was a memory to last a lifetime. One of many examples of her thoughtfulness.  She loved her nieces and always made sure that we knew it.

We didn’t know Joan well, but spent many christmas and thanksgivings with her, and had  a lot of good little chats. I remember having fun with her once when I was helping her get her dinner plate together in the days when her illness was getting worse, how much, what to cut up etc., we could see all the good traits mentioned above.

I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world to have had Joan in my life. She was not only the best aunt I could have ever wished for, but also a truly beautiful soul with the kindest and most loving heart. Joan had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcome. She always seemed to have a smile on her face and there was no place she was happier than with a child sitting on her lap. Her love for children, her gentle spirit, and the warmth she shared so freely were such a special part of who she was. I miss Joan more than words can express. I will miss her smile, her kindness, her love and simply having her in my life. I feel incredibly blessed to have known her and to have been loved by her. She will always hold a special place in my heart and the beautiful memories she gave us will stay with me forever.

Kind to all, Joan was especially wonderful to my wife and our children.  Forever giving and never taking, she lived a life that was an example of character.  While she did not seek to take a great space in the world, she had a major positive impact on all of the children that she nurtured both within her family and during her career in early childhood education.   May Joan rest in peace.

I’ll always remember Auntie Joan for her kindness and gentleness. She was a quiet person, but you always knew she cared. I have fond memories of the time spent with her over many Christmases, birthdays and more. The entire family will always be grateful to have had her with us. She will be missed.

Aunt Joan was always so kind and welcoming to me. She had a warm heart and a gentle way about her that made everyone feel comfortable. I will always remember her kindness and the way she made me feel like part of the family. She will be greatly missed.

I have so many special memories, like this picture, of Joan spending time with me. 
She used to play with us,  take us to the park and the movies. She minded us frequently. Joan was a kind, patient , safe and reassuring person. 
When I got older, she taught me to drive and brought me to my driver’s test. After I passed the drivers test, I locked the car keys inside Joan’s car! She didn’t even get mad. I think she was just so relieved that I passed the drivers test ! 🥹 
I’m going to miss her so much!❤️

Joan was an integral part of the Hawley family.  She was always there to lend a helping hand.

Aunt Joan was such an important part of my life and my childhood. Some of my favourite memories are of the beautiful Barbie clothes she knitted for me and the chocolate birthday cakes she made every year. She had a way of making me feel special, loved, and cared for, and those memories are ones I will always treasure.

As I grew older, my love and appreciation for her only grew. She was kind, thoughtful, and always there for her family. I feel incredibly lucky to have had her in my life. I will miss her deeply, but I will carry her love and the memories we shared with me forever. ❤️
