Ted passed away February 19, 2018 at the age of 100 years. Born in Ottawa September 27, 1917, Ted was a remarkable man. The university educated son of a locomotive engineer, he was a decorated Captain in the Second World War serving with the Irish Regiment in Italy, achieved a high ranking position in the Federal Government, an accomplished artist, skier, sailor, opera lover… and the list goes on. But most important to him was his family - he married the girl in the yellow eyelet lace dress (Peggy Moore) and was her loving husband for over 70 years and become the loving father to his family of eight children: Ellen, Tony (Cathy), Danny (Danielle), Francis (Carol), John (Nancy), Jim (Anne), Paul (Kim), and David (Kathy) along with 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren (presently). The richness and vastness of the memories he leaves behind will continue to be his most treasured gifts to us all. Visitation will be at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa on Friday, February 23 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 174 Wilbrod Street, Ottawa on Saturday, February 24 at 1:30 p.m.
