June 28, 1932- May, 18th, 2023
In order to pursue opportunities in Canada, Mom departed Germany after WW2, on a transatlantic adventure. As the only member of her family to do so, she exhibited her lifelong independent spirit and natural curiosity for exploration.
By having a career in the Federal civil service, Mom was able to raise and support us as a single parent. Her interests extended to nature, gardening, travel, and a voracious passion for reading.
Mom, you had the soul of a gardener-nurturing, but never coddling. Your quiet strength, humility, and conviction to justice for all, was honourable and your enduring sensibility ran through every endeavour you pursued.
Our mom left us in the very early morning of May 18th, and her pain ended with her departure…Mom lived a long and good life - our hearts are broken but still full of the boundless love she shared with us and all those that knew her.
Rest now, Mom…a bigger Garden awaits you.
We carry you in our hearts.
Rest in Peace.
The loving mother of Tania, John and Mike. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. We would like to thank Windsor Park Retirement Residence; the Ottawa Hospital (Civic and General Campuses) and the Ottawa First Responders.
Visitation will take place on Saturday May 27, 2023 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home (1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa) from 2pm until the time of the memorial service at 3pm.
For those wishing to do so, sending flowers would be exactly what Justina would have liked
