February 10, 1922 – April 24, 2012
Died peacefully overnight in her sleep, in the only home she ever owned and lived in for 57 years.
A quietly independent lady: vibrant and astute to the end. Her crossword puzzles kept her mind quick and responsive.
Lillian lived alone for the last 30 years after her husband Glen died in 1983. She single handedly maintained two homes - her permanent house in the city and her cottage in the Gatineau Hills - until age forced her to vacate her summer retreat.
Mom, your persevering, positive and perseptive nature taught us and served us well. Thank you for many years of commitment, concern and comedy together.
Mom was born in Argyle Shore, P. E. I. and her final resting spot shall be at a family site on the island - the only place she truly believed to be her home.
Predeceased by her husband Glen, April 26, 1983 and son Terence, February 9, 2012. Survived by sons Gordon (Claudette), Greg (Lisa), daughter Golda (Murray) and daughter-in-law Julie. Also survived by grandchildren Joanne, Jamie, Jason, Jennifer
and Ewan and great grandchildren Celestina, Hunter and Alyssa. She will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews, friends and relatives of the MacDougall clan from P.E. I. Many thanks to the Gloucester Seniors Centre and to her weekly caregiver Mary Ann. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion) on Tuesday May 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday in the Chapel at 2 p.m. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stoke Foundation would be appreciated.
