Born on January 14, 1940, in Saint John, New Brunswick, to Simon and Katherine Levine, she was the eldest of three children, the late Dr. Leonard Levine and the late David Levine.
Together, they had a close-knit family in a small town, with an idyllic, loving childhood.
After finishing Nursing school, Lorraine met the love of her life, the late Milton Zides, and they married on June 15, 1959. Truly devoted to each other in sickness and in health, they had 26 loving years together.
Lorraine and Milton had the quintessential example of a loving marriage, and they were blessed with four children; Heidi Zides, the late Cheryl (John) Dover, Colin Zides and Sara Andrea Zides.
In 1972, the Zides family moved to Ottawa and settled in Nepean, ON.
Lorraine was the matriarch of the Zides family, and she valued her family over everything else. She ensured that her home was the heart of the family.
Whether celebrating a birthday, a Yontif, a Shabbat or Seder, there was always a beautiful gathering and delicious meals to look forward to.
Lorraine had a successful career in real estate. She had a rich life in the community where she built strong relationships and made many lifelong friends.
For many years she relished her winters in Florida, enjoying her retirement playing Mah Jong, Skip-Bo and backgammon with her friends and family.
She is survived by her children Heidi Zides, Dr. Colin (Andrea) Zides and Sara Andrea Zides.
Lorraine was a loving Grannie to Saunya (Mark) Dover, Milton Dover, Shawna (Chris) Picov, Michelle (Justin) Anisman, Carter (Olivia) Zides, Sydney (Adam) Zides, along with great-grandchildren Kaylin, Madeleine, Alice and Aubrey.
The family are grateful for the compassionate care of the staff and Physicians of the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Family Physician Dr. David MacMillan, and all the home care staff from Bayshore.
The Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Jewish Memorial Gardens - Osgoode Cemetery (6549 Herberts Corners Road).
