It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Niki, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and colleague. Her presence in this world was a true gift—one defined by kindness, resilience, and a spirit that uplifted everyone she encountered.
Niki will always be remembered for her incredible strength and courage. She faced life’s most difficult challenges with determination and grace, fighting a tough battle with unwavering strength and resilience. Throughout it all, she remained a source of inspiration to those around her, demonstrating what it means to endure with dignity and hope. Her resilience inspired all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and love.
From an early age, Niki had a passion for athletics, a passion she carried throughout her life. She continued to share that enthusiasm by supporting her children in all of their sports and activities. Whether cheering from the sidelines or taking on the role of lead organizer, she dedicated countless hours to coordinating events and travel tournaments, always ensuring that every moment was special and meaningful. Her commitment and energy made a lasting impact on her community and the many families she touched.
Niki also devoted herself to both her professional life and her community. She held numerous roles throughout her career, building strong relationships and earning the respect of colleagues along the way. Generous with her time, she volunteered whenever she could, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
She was a wonderful homemaker who created a warm, welcoming space for family and friends. Known as a true foodie, she took great joy in preparing meals, sharing recipes, and bringing people together around the table. Her home was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.
Niki was born in January 1979, in Kitchener. Her journey brought her to Ottawa, where she pursued her education with ambition and purpose. It was there that she built a life grounded in love and family. Above all, Niki was a devoted and loving mother to her three cherished children: son Asher, and twin daughters Talia and Hannah. They were her greatest pride and joy, and her love for them knew no bounds.
She is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by her parents Cheryl Moir and John Steinberg (Sherrie); "Big Bro" Jeremy, "Seesta" Stephanie, Sister Taz and brother Jack, along with their families; and a treasured extended family that includes many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces, all of whom she held close to her heart. Niki also leaves behind many dear friends, her sports families and colleagues who will forever cherish her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit.
Niki had a unique ability to light up any room she entered. Her smile, laughter, and genuine kindness brightened countless lives, and her memory will continue to do so for years to come.
Cremation will take place in Ottawa, and a celebration of life will be held in the near future, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful life she lived.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the lives she touched will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered, always.
Way to go Nik, you made us all so proud. Good Morning to our angel.
