Marguerite Hill

29 January 1918 – 18 March 2016

Marguerite passed away peacefully in her sleep, in her ninety-ninth year, at the Peter D. Clark Long Term Care Home on March 18, 2016. Marguerite was born in Upper West Pubnico, Nova Scotia, one of twelve children of Léander and Sephora Amirault. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Charles Henry Hill, originally of Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario. Marguerite was the loving mother of Denis Albert (Sheila Long), Dwight Anthony (Lauretta Grierson), Deborah Margaret (the late Jim Chabot), Donna Mary (Ted Darling), Stephen Charles (Mary Kobylecky), and Ross Henry (Jenny Lieu). She also leaves one sister, Dorothy, and one brother, Léonce, (both of Pubnico, NS); thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. After moving to Ottawa during World War II, she married Charles and they spent most of their lives in Ottawa. After his retirement in 1977, they traveled the world before returning to live out their lives here. Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Wednesday, March 23 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service on Thursday, March 24 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens.
