Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa on Sunday, May 17, 2026; age 90. Beloved wife of the late Antonio Araujo. Loving mother of Celeste (Paul), Fernando (Violet), and Isabel (Jack). Cherished grandmother of Haley (Mitchell), Kyle (Hannah), Victoria, and Catherine (Rocco). Daughter of the late Rosa and Jose Gomes. She will be fondly missed by many friends and family both in Canada and Portugal.
Gloria will be remembered as a kind and hardworking mother who found great joy in caring for her family. She loved gathering everyone together, filling her home with warmth, delicious meals, and laughter.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Villa Marconi for the care they provided to Gloria.
Visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel (1411 Hunt Club Rd, Ottawa), on Wednesday May 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Hope Cemetery Chapel (4660 Bank St, Gloucester) on Thursday May 21st , at 10:00 AM followed by an Interment at Hope Cemetery. After the Interment, a reception will be held in honour of Gloria at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home.
