Marius Cristovici

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marius Cristovici. He left this world at the age of 98, at the Ottawa General Hospital on January 15, 2025. Born in Romania, Marius was the son of the late Alexandru and Maria Cristovici. He was the loving husband of Stella Marcus and the caring father of Yvonne, Andy and Phil. He leaves behind in mourning his grandchildren Rhoan, Lola, Nicholas, Alex, Connor and William. He was predeceased by his sister Yvonne and his first wife Doina.

Marius graduated from the Mine Institute of Bucharest in 1952, obtaining a degree in engineering, with a specialty in mining and processing minerals and coal deposits. He worked for private companies, as well as for government institutions in Romania and Canada.

He was fluent in six languages and had a special interest in astronomy. He lived a long and beautiful life and exited this world in the care of his beloved wife Stella and the presence of his loving daughter Yvonne.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa, Ontario). The ceremony will take place in the Funeral home’s chapel at 12 PM. After the service, Marius will be laid to rest at Ottawa’s Notre-Dame Cemetery. A reception and lunch will follow at the Funeral Home.
