Mike was born in Croydon, New South Wales, Australia, and spent his younger years living in several places around the world, including Cairo, Cape Town, Vancouver, Hartford, Boston, Ottawa, and Toronto. He later spent many years in Huntsville and North Bay before returning to Ottawa in his later years.
Mike was an accountant by profession and, following retirement, continued working at No Frills in North Bay to stay active and connected with others.
An avid outdoorsman, Mike had a particular passion for fishing. During his years in Huntsville, he lived on Peninsula “Pen” Lake, where countless family memories were made enjoying time on the lake. In North Bay, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Nipissing, as well as many memorable poker weekends and fishing trips with close friends.
Sports were another lifelong passion. Mike was a well-rounded athlete, an avid sports fan, and a collector of sports cards. Running was part of his daily routine for much of his adult life, and when he could no longer run, he continued to stay active on his recumbent bike.
Mike was known for his enthusiasm, resilience, toughness, and keen sense of humour. He had a unique way of looking at life, with memorable observations and sayings that often brought laughter to those around him.
Above all, Mike cherished his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and spending time with them brought him tremendous joy.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Grace Dale, and his stepmother, Julia Dale, whom he regarded as a second mother.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Timothy Andrew Dale (Terra Dale), Daniel Robert Dale (Emily Dale), and Kristopher Michael Dale (Ariane Thibault); his grandchildren, Hayden and Aurora Dale, Annie, Molly, and Jackson Dale, and Léa and William Dale; his extended family; and the many friends whose lives he touched.
There will be no formal funeral service or celebration of life. Private gatherings of family and friends will be held in his honour.
Mike will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends, who will cherish the moments and memories they shared with him.
