Michel Calixte

Michel Calixte d'Ottawa, Ontario, est décédé paisiblement à l'hôpital Civic d'Ottawa le 3 janvier 2026, à l'âge de 82 ans. Né le 27 décembre 1943 à Arcahaie, Haïti, il était l'enfant bien-aimé de Ernest Calixte et Roselia Nicolas.

Michel a immigré au Canada en 1974 afin d'offrir à sa famille une vie meilleure, pleine d'opportunités. Il a travaillé pendant 34 ans à l'ambassade de la Côte d'Ivoire où il s'est fait des amis de diverses nationalités.

Il laisse dans le deuil :

son épouse Guerda Garnier,

son fils Vianney (Mélanie)

ses petites-filles Chloé (Diego), Céleste (Alexandre) et Vianna

ses arrière-petit enfants Amaya, Amiel and Mateas

ses frères Joseph-Edouard Calixte et Pierre-René Calixte, de nombreux membres de sa famille élargie ; ses amis pleurent également sa perte.

Michel Calixte, of Ottawa Ontario, passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on January 3, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on December 27,1943 in Arcahaie, Haiti. The beloved child of the late Ernest Calixte and Roselia Nicolas.

Michel left Haiti in 1974 to immigrate to Canada to give his family a better life filled with opportunities. He devoted his life as an employee working at the Embassy of the Ivory Coast for 34 years where he built international friendships.

Michel is survived by :

his wife Guerda Garnier,

his son Vianney (Melanie)

his granddaughters Chloé (Diego), Céleste (Alexandre) and Vianna

his great-grandchildren Amaya, Amiel and Mateas

His loss is also mourned by his younger brothers Joseph-Édouard Calixte and Pierre-René Calixte along with many members of his extended family and friends that he loved.

A reception will follow immediately after the burial at the McEvoy and Shields Funeral Home.
