

Moira Moylan died peacefully at the age of 97 in the gentle and loving care of the staff at Windsor Park Manor on Hunt Club Road, surrounded by her family. Born in Ireland, she lived a long life guided by her deep faith, incredible personal strength and courage, love of family, and an infectious joy and humour that brightened the world around her. With incredible energy, she immigrated to Canada with a brood of young children, raised them all without mishap, was an accomplished ballroom dancer in her spare time and later, at the age of 90, became a competitive pool player at Windsor Park Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband and life partner, Finlay McKenzie Moylan in 1997 and her loving son Paul Francis Moylan (Sandra) in 2014. In her final days, she was surrounded by the love of her seven remaining children who came from many corners of the continent to celebrate a life that has been a defining influence for all of them: Philip Moylan (Christine) - Dana Point; Marie Moylan (David) -Washington; Jacinta Jay (Norm) - Summerland; Theresa Moylan (Murray) -Victoria; Tish Moylan (Fred) - Orillia; Eileen Moylan -White Rock; and Brian Moylan (Sonja) -Vancouver. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her final journey was guided by two wonderful, long-time friends, Dr. Marc Langill, her physician of 25 years, and her pastor, Father Joe LeClair. The funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, 685 Walkley Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, February 26 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in her name can be made to Operation Eyesight (operationeyesight.com)
