Moe was the proud son of Gertrude (Kealey) and Patrick Watters, and loving brother of Doreen and Ken (Barbara), all of whom are predeceased. Dear uncle to Terry Watters and Nancy Lentini.
Together with Angela (Kiely), his treasured wife of almost 65 years, they built a life centred on family, friends, and great adventure.
He will be forever loved and missed by his cherished daughter, Cathy; son-in-law, Peter Brennan; and adored grandsons, Ben and Josh, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Moe was proud of the antics he experienced while growing up around McNabb Park, and valued the lifelong friendships that he formed. He was also grateful for his 40-year career at CBC TV, which provided him with opportunities beyond his wildest dreams, including working on countless CFL games, 28 Grey Cups, and 3 Olympic Games.
An excellent athlete, he enjoyed playing and watching every sport. He also loved spending time at horse racing tracks and card tables, playing poker, craps, gin, and euchre, always happiest in good company with a game underway.
Moe will be remembered for his warmth, his pride in his family, and his generous spirit. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
A memorial mass, celebrating this very special man, will be held on Friday, February 27th, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Basilica, 220 Kent Street, Ottawa, ON. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
