It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a loving soulmate, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who peacefully passed away on June 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nicolas was predeceased by his beloved parents, Nafie and Salim; his brothers George, Elias, and Habib; his sister, Jamile; his beloved sons, John and Robin; his loving wife, Badia; and his cherished grandson, Johnathan.
Dad/Gido was truly one of a kind—a legend to all who knew him. He had an infectious laugh, a joyful spirit, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether he had known you for years or had just met you, he treated everyone with kindness and respect. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humour brought smiles wherever he went, and his presence made every gathering brighter.
Those who knew Dad/Gido also knew his unforgettable expressions. If he liked you, you were his sunshine; If he didn't, you were a cockroach. At the end of your visit, he would always say, I love you. His quick wit, honesty, and larger-than-life personality became part of who he was and are memories that his family and friends will cherish forever.
Nicolas leaves behind his forever soulmate Diana; brother Hikmut; loving sons, Richard (Lynda) and Raymond (Wendy). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Dayna, Kyle (Stephanie), Krista (Matthew), and Alexandra (Mike); as well as his treasured great-grandchildren, Brielle, Mateo, Jordan, Lilly, and William. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Special thanks to the staff at the Glebe Centre, PSWs and nurses who took very good care of Dad/Gido.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 750 Ridgewood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment at Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank street.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Crown Café, Suite 108, 1420 Blair Towers Place, Ottawa, ON.
