Pat was born in Grimsby, England to Juliette and Harry Dobson and grew up in Schumacher in northern Ontario. As a young athlete, Pat excelled at figure skating, swimming, and diving. She achieved her Royal Life Saving award, worked as a lifeguard at the McIntyre Pool and performed in many skating carnivals at the McIntyre Arena.
While working in the Engineering office of the McIntyre mine, Pat met the love of her life. She and Joe enjoyed 63 years of marriage living in different mining communities in Northern Ontario and making many friends along the way. In 2016, they moved to Ottawa to be closer to family.
Special thanks to family physician Dr. Boktor who provided excellent medical care during Pat and Joe's time in Ottawa; the community nurses from SE Health (Abdul and Diane), the PSW's from CBI Home Health (Anisa, Nyota, Layla and Dekka), and Laura Hamilton at the LHIN who provided wonderful support during Pat's final weeks. And a huge thank you to all the staff at Hunt Club Manor where Pat lived for the past 2 years.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no service at this time. A service may be held at a future date.
