Peacefully, on November 8th, 2013, surrounded by family members. Beloved husband of 68 years of the late Stella Phyllis Ryan (see obituary above). Cherished son of the late Patrick John Murphy and the late Ann-Esther Cobey. Pre-deceased by sister Helena (Raymond Madore) and brothers Harrington (Helen Shea), James (Irene Schyer) and Philip. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Friends and family may pay their respects at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club Rd. at Albion Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A combined Funeral Mass for Stella and Patrick Murphy will be celebrated on Friday, November 15th , 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 194 Fourth Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment at St.Rose de Lima Cemetery in Gatineau will take place after the reception. A sincere thank you to the caring staff of The Ottawa Hospital (General Campus), and to Dr. Brian Dick and his staff members June and Geeva. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Mission or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (C.N.I.B) would be greatly appreciated.
