Percy Salim Khoury

It is with sadness that the family of Percy Khoury announces his death on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Christine Khoury to whom he was married for 59 years. He leaves behind his sons Dan and Sam of Dallas, Texas: daughter Lisa (Dennis) of Ottawa ON; grandchildren Eric and Mathieu. Percy also leaves behind his siblings: Tom (Hoda), Albert (Audrey), Abe, Charlie, and Sabina; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents Salim and Helen Khoury, he was predeceased by his siblings Watfa El-Khoury, Sally Delmas, Joseph and Mary Khoury.

Born on June 5, 1933 in Niha, Lebanon, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1951.

As the oldest son and led by his strong faith in God, he quickly found employment while learning English and is remembered for his generosity to financially support his parents and siblings as they all embarked on their new beginnings in Canada. He was an entrepreneur at heart, building a successful taxi business, investing in real estate and owning a restaurant for many years which is where his love for cooking was born. At home he could be found gardening whether it be his flower beds or his vegetable garden while perfecting his yogurt or nammoura recipes in the kitchen. Later in life he moved to Ottawa to be closer to his grandchildren and was just as enthusiastic in being a spectator to their activities as he was with his own children.

The family will receive relatives and friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road), on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 5338 Bank Street South, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11 a.m.. Private cremation to follow. In memoriam donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
