Colonel (Ret.)
December 14th, 1932 – September 24th, 2013
Robert “Bob” Irvine passed away peacefully after a dignified and courageous struggle with his health. Dad was predeceased by his first wife, our mother, Barbara Moore. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Joan (Moloughney) Dumbrell. His love and care of both during their final illnesses was an inspiration for us as we cared for him. He is survived by his three loving daughters: Celeste (Christopher Jones), Bernadette (Kim Phalen) and Marysa (Mike Chomyn), as well as his adored grandson Patrick Phalen. Dad was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces and served his country in Canada and abroad. He was a tireless volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society for over 20 years. He loved to golf, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. A special thank you to all his caregivers, in particular to the staff of the second floor at The Ravines, and to Penny from Memory Matters. Your care and support helped us through this journey. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, with a reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society, Alzheimer Society, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
