It is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of Robert Hugh Oakley. Bob passed peacefully with his family by his side on March 14, 2022, at the age of 80. He will be profoundly missed and honoured by his children Meagan (Domenic), Johanna, Sean (Dana) and April; by his grandchildren Michaela, Isabella, Bennett and Maddox; by his extended family and many great friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Greta Oakley.
Bob had an extraordinary passion for his family and friends. His most proud achievements were his children and grandchildren. He taught all his children to love unconditionally, the importance of patience, kindness, compassion, resilience and humour. Bob was a true family man and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Bob was the life of the party, yet an absolute gentleman. Bob cherished his time at the cottage and his Saturday night euchre games.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Landmark Court Retirement Residence, as well as to all those who cared for him in his last days at the Ottawa Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 4-7 pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, ON.
