October 7, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald “Rocket” Ryan on October 7, 2026.
Ronnie was the cherished son of the late Raymond Ryan and Lilian Gray.
Known affectionately to so many as “Rocket Ronnie,” he was a familiar face, a loyal friend, and a much-loved member of the community.
An avid sports fan, Rocket had a special place in his heart for his Ottawa Senators and the Venosta Shamrocks. He proudly coached the Shamrocks for many years, affectionately referring to the players as “his girls.”
His love for the game and dedication to the team went far beyond coaching.
Ronnie was also thrilled to see hockey return to Low with the Paugan Falls Rapids. He loved attending their games, cheering on the local team, and seeing the community come together around the sport he enjoyed so much.
Having hockey back in his hometown brought him so much happiness, and he was always proud to support the Rapids.
For over 20 years, Ronnie took it upon himself to keep the local ball field looking its best. Armed with his own push mower, gas, and plenty of determination, he faithfully cut the grass year after year, eventually graduating to a ride-on mower. It was simply one of the many ways he quietly gave back to the community he loved.
But perhaps what made Rocket most special was his kindness. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and always had time for a friendly conversation, whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he had just met.
He was truly one of a kind.
Ronnie held a very special place in the hearts of the Egan and Angus families, who considered him one of their own. He will be dearly missed by both families, his many lifelong friends, and everyone in the community who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest easy, Rocket.
Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the countless ways you made our community a better place. You will never be forgotten. ❤️
