Born in Syria, peacefully in hospital, on Thursday, Sept 3, 2026 at the age of 92 years. Beloved husband of Samira Norgo. Loving father of Linda, Rita and Bassel (Ragheda Watfa). Adored Jedo of Alex and the late Simon. Predeceased by his sisters Bahija and Farida and his brothers George and Antoun.
With deep love and gratitude, we remember Samaan Khouri, who lived ninety-two full and happy years. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved teacher and principal, a loyal friend, and above all he dedicated his life to his family, caring for us with strength, generosity, and endless love. He gave everything he could to support his children’s education, goals, and achievements, and his guidance shaped the people they became.
To many, he was a friend, a teacher, and someone to look up. His lessons went far beyond books and classrooms, he taught by example, through patience, hard work, kindness, humor, and integrity.
He enjoyed life fully. He loved sports, especially soccer, and played for local teams. He also enjoyed weightlifting and other activities that kept him active and strong. He loved fun, parties, jokes, music, and dancing, and he brought joy wherever he went. He continued to drive until the age of ninety, a reflection of his independence, determination, and spirit.
He was happily married for sixty-seven years, building a life filled with devotion, family, and lasting memories. He was proud of his children and family, and we were proud to call him ours.
As a teacher, he was loved and respected by his students and by the teaching staff. Many of his students continued to stay in touch with him over the years, a beautiful reminder of the impact he had on their lives. His influence lived on through the people he taught, encouraged, and inspired.
He had many friends and made people feel welcomed and valued. He helped those he knew, and many times he helped people he did not know at all. His kindness was natural, his generosity sincere, and his presence unforgettable.
Loved by his children dearly, his son Bassel named his own son (Simon Khouri) after him. That name carried honor, love, and pride. Now, in losing them both, the family carries a grief that words cannot fully express, but also a love that will never fade.
Samaan's legacy is found in the family he cherished, the students he guided, the friends he kept, the people he helped, and the joy he shared. He will be remembered for his love, his laughter, his wisdom, and his generous heart.
May his memory be eternal and may the love he gave continue to live in all of us.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul Syriac Church, 115 Boulevard Sacré Coeur (north of Boulevard Maisonneuve) in Gatineau, (Hull Sector) on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 6:00 P.M.- 9 :00 P.M. and on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 after 12 Noon, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 1:00 P.M..
