Born in Ottawa, Shirley had a lifelong love of music. There was never a Rolling Stones concert she would miss, and whether at a show or filling a room at home, music was rarely far from her. She retired from a career at the Ottawa Hospital.
Shirley leaves her sister Colleen (Richard Huckstep), her sister Maureen, and her brother Patrick (Joanne Armstrong), along with her nieces and nephews Shawn, Amanda, Allison (Patrick Harkin), Victoria, and Michael, and her great-nieces and great-nephews Jaina, Alyssa, Kailey, Brayden, Calliope, Amara, Lincoln, and Theodore.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved son Christopher Larventz and her parents, Thomas Francis Manion and Margaret (Peggy) McCrank. Shirley also leaves her son Matthew (Shauna Bassel) and her two grandsons. Those who knew her will remember the warmth she carried in every room.
The family will receive friends and relatives at St. Maurice Church, 4 Perry Street, Ottawa, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after 10 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with reception to follow in the church hall.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bruyère Health Saint-Vincent Hospital, Ottawa, for the excellent and compassionate care shown to Shirley. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Shirley's memory to Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 613-737-7900.
