It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Terry, a man who touched the hearts of everyone he met. His infectious laugh, quick wit and unconditional love will live on in our memories. Terry taught with the Ottawa Catholic Separate School Board for over 40 years and was the proud recipient of the Doreen Brady award. His many interests included the Knights of Columbus, the Irish Society, the Ottawa Kennel Club and working at the Minto, to mention a few. Terry will be remembered by his family- Vince, Elena and children, Helen Shields, Moira and Jim Walman, Brenda and Doug Charles, his nieces and nephews, Nuala Patton, Angela McIntyre and Andraius Skau. He is predeceased by his parents Sam and Winnie Cornforth, his brother-in-law Ken Shields and his dear friend Ian McIntyre. Special thanks to Dr. Peters and his staff at the Civic and Palliative Care doctors and nurses at both the Civic and Bruyere Hospitals. Visitation will be at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Basilica, 220 Kent Street, a church close to Terry's heart, on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10 am. In memoriam donations to Saint Patrick’s Basilica Restoration Fund and the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
