Surrounded by love, our beautiful Veronica slipped peacefully to her eternal rest at the May Court Hospice on Saturday, March 28th at the age of 45. She was taken from us too soon, but will live forever in the memories and hearts of her loving husband Douglas Bagley and her children Mary Agnes and D’Arcy Bagley. Veronica is the cherished daughter of Monty and Andrea Doyle and beloved sister of Erin (Michael Dallaire) and Justin (Tanya Doyle). Auntie ‘Noc will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Carly, Annie, Jamie, and Sierra and her nephews Owen and Parker. She was a very special niece to her many aunts and uncles and beloved cousin to a far flung family who loved to get together annually at Farren Lake or Howe Island and share the joys and love of growing families and careers and life in general. She will be greatly missed by her mother-in-law Bev Bagley (John Graham) and her sister-in-law Diana (Danny Byrne). Veronica loved life and all the people in it. In her last year and final months she often expressed her profound gratitude for all the friends that she had, many from her childhood; for the wonderful neighbours in Riverside South; for the community friendships that grew from her children’s school experience; and for her job at the department of Justice and the many colleagues that she admired and enjoyed so much. She received love, prayers and support from all over Canada and the USA. Veronica’s husband and family wish to thank all those who reached out to Veronica and to them during this very difficult time. We also thank Dr. Michael Yachnin, the many fine medical professionals at the Ottawa General Hospital and, most recently, the staff at the May Court Hospice in Ottawa where she and her family were attended to with care, compassion and support. Veronica was never alone during the last 30 days of her life. Very special thanks go to the family members and friends that shared this vigil with her, especially those that stayed overnight, every night so that she was never out of the sight of a loving face. To honour her spirit, donations may be made to Hospice Care Ottawa (114 Cameron Avenue, Ottawa). Friends and family are invited to visit at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Tuesday, March 31 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 1 at 11 am in St. Bernard’s Church, 1720 St. Bernard Street. A reception will be held at the church following the mass. Interment at Hope Cemetery.
