Born on May 23, 1941, in Berlin, Germany, Wolfgang spent his formative years in his hometown before immigrating to England and then to Canada in the early 1970s. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his unwavering work ethic, dedication, and enthusiasm.
Wolfgang was a creative and talented chef whose skills were sought after in kitchens across Europe, the Caribbean and North America.
Wolfgang's greatest joy in life was being a devoted father. He cherished spending quality time with his children, sharing stories, playing games, and watching their favorite TV shows. His guidance, support, and encouragement were constants in their lives.
In his leisure time, Wolfgang found solace in painting, reading, and exploring nature, particularly enjoying leisurely walks around the Nation's Capital, admiring the tulips and other exquisite flowers. He eagerly shared his adventures and passion with others and actively contributed to his community by volunteering at Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital and other organizations.
Wolfgang is survived by his beloved wife, Aureliana Ehlert, his children Jacqueline Ehlert (Peter) Mercer, Madeleine Ehlert (Brad) Williams, and Martin Ehlert (Sharon) Carmichael, as well as his grandchildren Lauren Williams (Grant) Scott, Madeleine Ehlert, and Maxton Ehlert.
