Le 20 avril 2021, à l’aube de ses 97 ans, Yvette a rejoint l’amour de sa vie, Jean-Charles, et leur fils Patrice (1966).
Elle laisse dans le deuil ses chers enfants Claire, Lucie, Charles (Lucie), Elizabeth, Geneviève (Kevin), ses six petits enfants Yannick, Noémie, Alexes, Jérémi, Fabien, Solange, et ses six arrière-petits-enfants Micah, Loïc, Sacha, Joseph, Joanik, Laurence, ainsi que sa sœur cadette Lise Cooke Pelletier et sa belle-sœur Jeanne Landry Cooke.
Fille de feu Aline Dorion et de feu Auguste Cooke, Yvette a été mise au monde à Trois-Rivières. Infirmière de formation, elle a œuvré à Québec, à Toronto, au New Jersey et à Ottawa avant d’épouser son amoureux Jean-Charles Mattar, en 1952.
Partenaires et complices dans leurs valeurs, Yvette et Jean-Charles sont reconnus pour avoir été de véritables précurseurs dans leurs idées et actions, des modèles inspirants pour les générations futures, des exceptions que personne ne pourra oublier.
Yvette était une femme hors du commun, dotée d’une grande intelligence et d’une bienveillance inouïe à l’égard des gens qui croisaient son chemin. Son énergie était inépuisable et inspirante, son sourire… d’or. Tous s’entendront pour reconnaître sa générosité et sa grandeur d’âme. Elle était profondément aimée et appréciée.
Passionnée de voyages et d’aventures, Yvette adorait aussi s’ancrer dans la terre pour jardiner, jouer au Chromino, écrire des cartes pour donner des nouvelles à son grand réseau autour du monde. On la connaissait également pour sa passion envers l’alimentation saine et l’exercice physique, jusqu’à 95 ans.
Comme bénévole, Yvette a accompagné des gens malades qui retournaient dans leur communauté, et a contribué sans compter à l’organisme la Popote Roulante, toujours avec son bien-aimé Jean-Charles.
Grâce à son énergie flamboyante, son positivisme, son amour pour la Vie et ses gens, elle fut une inspiration pour tous.
Notre belle Yvette se sera envolée tout au bout de sa vie. Nous lui souhaitons un beau ciel doux, bleu et lumineux.

In loving memory of Yvette Cooke Mattar (1924-2021)
On April 20, 2021, approaching her 97th birthday, Yvette joined the love of her life, Jean-Charles, and their son Patrice (1966).
She is survived by her children Claire, Lucie, Charles (Lucie), Elizabeth, Geneviève (Kevin), her grandchildren Yannick, Noémie, Alexes, Jérémi, Fabien, Solange, her great-grandchildren Micah, Loïc, Sacha , Joseph, Joanik, Laurence, her sister Lise Cooke Pelletier and sister-in-law Jeanne Landry Cooke.
A nurse by training, Yvette worked in Québec, Toronto, New Jersey and Ottawa before marrying her beloved Jean-Charles Mattar in 1952. Yvette was committed to the happiness of her family, her husband Jean-Charles, and her entourage. She was a forward thinker. Yvette was passionate about living fully, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in nutrition and fitness. She was energetic and her personality exuded positivism, inspiration, generosity, all with a unique sense of humor.
