Charlene Bradley

Born April 7, 1940, she was one of nine children born to Leroy and Clarice Jackson. Her family relocated to California when she was 14 years of age from Shreveport, La. She graduated from Oxnard High School and later in life attended Oxnard College and earned her degree in Liberal Arts & Early Childhood Development. She loved children and taught for 12 years as a school teacher. P

irlean has been a member of Bethel A.M.E., Church for over 60 years, and was the first member to get married in Bethel, in 1956. Pirlean married Clarence Garner Senior in 1956 and they reconnected and remarried again in July 2003, after 40 years of being apart. She was full of life and loved to be with her family. She loved the LORD and she took every opportunity to share with others how "GREAT the LORD has been to her".

Many in Ventura County knew Pirlean from her friendly smile, honesty and willingness to help others. She was a great cook and a humorous storyteller. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, mother in law, cousin and friend. Her hobbies were reading, drawing, walking, and spending quality time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Clarice Jackson, and her husband Clarence Garner Senior.

Pirlean is survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother and eight adoring children; Clarence Garner Jr., and his wife Cindy, Abigail Garner, JoAnn Garner McGee and her husband Ricky, Peggy Garner, Wanda McCoy, Phyllis McCoy, Demistra McCoy and Clarice Davis. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. We will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be from 3-8p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Conrad's and James Reardon/Del Angel Mortuary, 401 W. Channel Island Blvd., Oxnard. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 855 South "F" Street, Oxnard, with a burial following at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Reception to follow at Bethel A.M.E. Banquet Hall.
