Douglas John Lanagan died peacefully on September 1, 2021 among his family in Oxnard, California. He was 66 years old. Born on May 22, 1955, in Inglewood, California, to parents Bruce John and Dolores Lanagan, he spent his childhood growing up in Woodland Hills, California. Doug graduated from TAFT High School in Southern California in the class of 1973. After high school, Doug relocated to Northern California and established roots in the Santa Cruz area for work. While working for Compass Components, Doug met Catharine Tiddy, whom he married in 1986. In 1996, Doug and Cathy moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains where they set up residency and raised their three boys.
Doug loved sports and could be seen happily watching his favorite Giants team play baseball or 49ers team play football on television. He had many talents and interests, including a love of classic cars, reading copious novels, riding dirt bikes, taking photographs, and spending time with his beloved family dogs. Doug was most happy spending time engaging with his sons either at a local sports game, a car show, or on the golf course. He loved to come up on a good deal and was very generous with his time, assistance, and advice to his friends and family. Doug was a hard worker and found much success dedicating his life and career as President of Compass Components. He had a great sense of humor, was incredibly sarcastic, and found joy in helping others. His laughter, spirit, and energy will be greatly missed by those who came to know him.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents and sons Sean Lanagan and Grayden Lanagan. He is survived by son Corey Lanagan, sister Kay Lanagan, and younger brothers David and Paul Lanagan.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1PM at Gilroy Elks Lodge, located at 2765 Hecker Pass Highway, Gilroy, California.
