Benjamin was born in Minrander, Cuba.
He retired as a Mechanical Engineer with Queens Botanical Gardens and moved to Brevard County from Queens Village, New York in 1988.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Benjamin loved gardening. He studied about natural herbs for homeopathic remedies. He loved his classical music and for relaxation enjoyed meditation.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Pearl.
Benjamin is survived by his daughter Treasure Leggett of Palm Bay, Florida; son Trenton Broun of Jamaica, West Indies; 5 grandchildren: Renee Leggett- Bacon and grandson-in-law William Bacon, Tonya Leggett-Tutt and grandson-in-law Antoine M. Tutt, Tiffany Leggett, Keith Leggett and granddaughter-in-law Courtney, Treavon Timmons; 10 great grandchildren: Antoine J. Tutt, Amir Tutt, Khalil Nealy, Jalen Bacon, Amari Tutt, Jacen Bacon, Jadah Cameron, Aaron Tutt, Makayla Leggett, and Elgin Leggett.
Calling hours begin at 1:00pm followed by services at 2:00pm on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at Fountainhead Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Fountainhead Memorial Park
