Francine Munkacsy

Francine Munkacsy, of Melbourne Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the age of 78. Francine was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on January 5, 1945 to Alex and Estelle Munkacsy. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Frank J. Bancer. She is survived by her son Derek J. Jess, his wife Jeaneen and their two daughters Ashlyn Rose and Kaleigh Maria, all of Somerville, NJ as well as her brother Alan J. Munkacsy and his wife Sarah of Melbourne Beach, FL. She is also survived by four nieces – Michele Munkacsy and her family of Vancouver, Canada; Samantha Howe and her family of Palm Bay, FL; Megan Scott and her family of Melbourne Beach, FL and Alix Munkacsy of Palm Bay, FL.

After graduating from Caldwell College for Women in 1966, Francine began her lifelong vocation of teaching in Rensselaer, IN. From Rensselaer, Francine moved to Akron, OH where she continued her career, and then returned to Perth Amboy continuing her teaching career at the Samuel E. Shull School, where she taught for 38 years. She was a dedicated and compassionate educator who imparted not only academic knowledge, but life skills which helped the thousands of students she taught embark on a variety of careers, helping to nurture and expand the communities in which they live. Francine was a nurturing mother, awesome grandmother, cherished and fun aunt, supportive sister and true friend to many.

She was active locally with the New Neighbors Club, South Brevard Beaches; Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and various committees and activities in the Beachwoods Community.

Francine will be missed, more than words can say, but her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her wisdom, kindness and humor.

Francine's life will be celebrated locally on February 24th, 2024 at 11:00am. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3780 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, Florida 32951.

A second Celebration will follow late spring/early summer in New Jersey where she will be Interred.
