

Born in Trinidad and Tobago on November 27, 1965, Gail later made Brooklyn her home, where she lived the majority of her life. A proud and driven professional, Gail dedicated 35 years of service to the MTA New York City Transit, where she rose to the position of Senior Director of Timekeeping & Payroll. He unwavering work ethic, leadership, and commitment made her a respected and admired figure among her colleagues.
She married the love of her life, Michael Bernard, on May 15, 2011. Their love was a source of strength and joy that sustained her throughout her journey. Gail cherished her family deeply and especially enjoyed visiting her loved ones in Florida.
She was a woman of style, grace, and determination. Gail loved fashion, had a deep appreciation for designer bags and shoes, and believed in the occasional dose of retail therapy. Her talent for crocheting, a skill passed down by her grandmother, and her love for baking brought warmth and comfort to those around her.
Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Bernard; her loving mother, Wendy Payne Williams; her sisters, Audra and Jody Payne; her step-mother, Joan Payne; her cherished nephew, Tarell Johnson Payne; her loving nieces, Imani Fonseca and Nya Channel-Grant Payne; great-nephew Tarell Johnson Payne Jr.; great-niece Tamia Johnson Payne; beloved aunts Norma, Linda, Carol, Sandra, Diane, and Maureen; uncle Junior; her dearest Vanessa Williams, and a host of cousins and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her father, the late St. Clair Andre Payne.
Her bright spirit, impeccable style, and unwavering devotion to family and career will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, located at 7359 Babcock St. SE., Palm Bay, FL 32909.
Gails memory will live on in our hearts forever. She was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
