Gilbert J. Pfister, Sr., 82, of Palm Bay, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, surrounded by his wife, his four children and other members of his family.
Mr. Pfister retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 achieving the top NCO rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He resided here for the past 37 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church during that time. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #4536 and of the NCOA.
Mr. Pfister is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy J. Pfister; daughter, Helen (Paul) Pfister-Hayden of Vero Beach; sons, Gilbert (Susan) Pfister, Jr. of Apple Valley, MN, Anthony (Linda) Pfister of Palm Bay, Andrew (Laurie) Pfister of Lawton, OK; his sister, Betty Glassy, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Ann Pfister.
A funeral mass will be said Friday, November 26, 2010 at 8:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Babcock St.. Military honors will be rendered on a later date at Fountainhead Cemetery.
