Jacquelyn Alice Mertens

Melbourne-Passed away peacefully at the age of 83. Jackie will be remembered by her Niece Victoria Reisenbach Sandia Park New Mexico, Nephew Rory Nelson (Barbara) Melbourne Florida, Nephew Richard John Nelson, Melbourne Florida and Nephew Christopher Nelson (Samantha) Lincoln Nebraska. Predeceased by her husbands, Jospeph Mertens and Linden Strandberg. Also predeceased by her brother Richard Nelson and his wife Barbara Nelson.

Jackie was an avid dog trainer, handler and breeder of Golden Retrievers. Jackies name is synonymous with her company name Topbrass Kennels. Jackie was inducted into the Retriever Hall of Fame and was an AKC Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Jackie was the winner of 1986 National Amateur Retriever Championship with Topbrass Cotton. Jackie was a three time winner of the Womens Field Trial Club Challenge Trophy. Jackie judged the 2003 National Retriever Championship and 1996 National Amateur Retriever Championship.

With all her accomplishments and accolades, what made Jackie even more special was her generosity towards others.

A celebration of life will be held in Madison Florida on Saturday January the 18th. More information will be forthcoming as the date approaches.
