Jeff was born on March 18th, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to parents Kenneth Dunn Fore and Annie Jo Brooks. Jeff and his siblings, brother Ken and sister Linda, spent their childhood years traveling North and South America for their father’s work for what would become the Exxon Corporation. Of all his childhood travels, his favorite place was in the Colorado mountains with his grandparents, Wendell Holmes Fore Sr. and Eddie Lowry, and paternal uncle, Wendell Holmes Fore Jr.
After high school, Jeff enlisted in the United States Navy to become a submariner specializing in nuclear engineering in 1970. After proudly serving his country, he was honorably discharged in 1973. These experiences fostered in him a love of engineering, mathematics, and country.
Jeff had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel with college friends to see his favorite bands. He saw many greats of his time, including Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Commander Cody, and others. He loved listening to a wide range of music, from country to jazz, big band to rock & roll, folk to blues and musicals, and more. Jeff loved folk music so much he taught himself how to play the dulcimer, becoming the first musician of his family. His love of music lasted his entire lifetime.
He moved to Melbourne, Florida to enroll at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) for Electrical Engineering where he met the love of his life, Teresa Marie Drake. They felt an instant connection and had their first date playing miniature golf and grabbing a bite at Long John Silvers. Teri also befriended his parrot Jack, stealing both Jeff and Jack’s heart from the start. From the first date, Jeff and Teri fell in love and knew they were meant to be together. The couple wed soon after on June 1, 1980 and couldn’t wait to start their lives together with a family of their own.
Their first child, son Jeffrey Brooks Fore Jr, was born in Melbourne, Florida in 1981. After graduating with his bachelor's degree, the new family relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, for Jeff’s first job at AT&T. Their second child, daughter Annie Marie Fore, was born two years later in 1983. Jeff and Teri surrounded their children with love, fun, and adventure which persists within the family today. Jeff fostered in his children many things, but especially a love of music, laughter, and family.
After settling back down in Palm Bay, Florida, Jeff and Teri built their forever home together. Their street was filled with great friends, block parties and holiday celebrations that brought him immense joy. Jeff so loved the holidays and celebrating with family and friends. They had many pets throughout their marriage, but they especially loved cocker spaniels. For nearly 20 years, they always had the “four Fore dogs” and loved them all dearly for their personalities and affections. Throughout Jeff’s life, his love for dogs and their love for him was a simple pleasure that never failed to touch him deeply and bring him comfort.
During his career, Jeff was trusted with complicated assignments and difficult projects, for which he won respect and multiple awards. He worked nearly 30 years for Harris Corporation in Palm Bay, Florida. He started as an Electrical Engineer and advanced through the ranks to become a Systems Engineering Manager, and was further trusted in this role with difficult assignments all over the world, including Japan, Germany, and Turkey. After a full career of dedicated service, Jeff retired in 2016.
Jeff and Teri spent many years traveling the world together. On his BMW K 1600 GTL motorcycle, they explored the Appalachian Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway in awe of the beautiful nature. From California to New York, across the globe to Japan and beyond, Jeff and Teri celebrated 44 years of devoted marriage together as best friends, husband and wife.
Jeff will always be remembered for so much, including his love of animals, movies, motorcycling, music, and model rockets. Some of his family’s fondest early memories together are building model rockets and launching them at local parks, staring up in the sky as their parachutes deployed and chasing after them on the ground as they returned to Earth. He was also an avid water skier, and many weekend summers would be spent on the Indian and Banana Rivers with his family, hoping for a glassy calm day and a lack of jellyfish. Together, they had a blast riding skis, kneeboards, ski-bobs, and inner-tubes behind his family boat, named Teri Two for his true love.
In his later years, Jeff enjoyed watching his favorite movies, listening to his favorite music, and most of all, spending time with family. He was surrounded with love, support, and affection from his wife and children and we often expressed our love to each other. Jeff spent his final years with his nurturing, loving wife, Teri, who went above and beyond as his caregiver.
Jeffrey Brooks Fore is mourned as a great, loving man by his wife and children who will treasure his memory, always. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken; his Uncle Junior. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Teri; his children, Jeff and Annie; his sister, Linda; and his nieces and nephews. Jeff’s love is greatly missed and cherished forever.
The Celebration of Life for Jeffrey Brooks Fore will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock St, Palm Bay, FL 32909 on February 10th, 2025, at 5:00pm.
