  To the Nagle Family,

As a year has passed, I want to remember Joe and say again how sorry I am that he is not with us.  So once again I want to tell my story of Joe and I and our bond.

Joe and I worked together on the Firestone Program together.  I was the Admin for the Program and also the Custodian for the building downstairs.  I would go around periodically and asked if anyone needed any repair work or some janitorial duties.  One day as I asked Joe he said that he would like a window in his office.  I laughed as we are in a secured vault downstairs in our building.  I smiled and told him I would see what I could do.  Now my mom had a window/type mirror and I said if I could find a plain wooden window that would be great.  Well windows even on Ebay aren't cheap.  I did a little praying too because I needed some heavenly help.

One weekend my husband and I were on our way to Jacksonville and I asked my husband if we could go some of the back roads to Jacksonville, a road trip so to speak.  So as we had neared the end of journey, I saw one of those small planes in the sky writing out something.  I stared at it for a bit and then let out a gasp.  My husband wanted to know what I saw and the plane had written  Trust Jesus.  Well, my husband said, look quick on the side of the road, the window is probably lying there.  You laugh but that is about the size of it.  We had no more gone another 500 yards and there was a second hand household type place.  They had odd sinks, doors, piping and yes windows.  We stopped and as my husband was pulling out this wood framed window that was stuck behind this door, he said, Will you look at this, God had it hung for you.  Sure enough on the back of the window was a wire cord tied to two eye hooks.  I took it home, painted it and found a great picture of a pasture and a barn, cut out some horses to paste in the picture for depth and it was perfect.  That Monday after Joe had left work, I put it in his office.  After that, Joe and I had a bond that was special and he had that hanging in his office right up until the end.  

I am sure when Jesus comes back riding on his white horse, Joe will have readied it for Him.

I was fortunate enough to get to know Joe only within the last 6 months or so at Harris, but lucky me for getting to know him even for that short time!  He was such a likable man….I knew I liked him instantly because he cut a joke of some sort on our meeting and was always smiling.  Then as we worked together some more, I got to know what a happy, kind, patient, helpful, gentle, gracious man Joe was.  He spoke to me about his wife and her horses frequently.  The world could use a lot more Joes.  He will be missed and my condolences to the family.

I worked with Joe directly for many years.  He was one of the most caring and understanding people I know.  With an unlimited amount of patience and compassion he could always lend a helping hand in any situation.  He was valued by many people on many levels.  He will be missed dearly but will live on within us all.

Although we have never met  Joe, we feel we know him through his daughter and her children. How lucky we are that because of him, our lives, mine and my children,  have been forever changed by the relationships we have with Robyn, Kyle, and Bryce.

I will try not to echo what all of Joe's work compatriots and friends have written about Joe, but it is a consistent message. Over my 20+ years of our companies working together, it is hard to express what a good guy, an incredible resource and what a pleasure Joe was to work with. Always positive, completely dedicated, and someone I always looked forward to seeing during visits. He will be missed both professionally and personally. Our prayers and thoughts are with Joe and his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I was one of Joe's technical customers for over ten years, and he was  the best that I had known. His vast technical knowledge of our system was apparant, and I felt very comfortable with his input on every issue that we faced.
I dealt with him almost on a daily basis, and always enjoyed his humor and companionship when we got together.
Harris has certainly lost a true asset.

Joe was one of the first engeneers I met at Harris when I started at the company in 2004. I remember his kind smile, his patience and his intelligence. He set the bar high for those around him, both as an engineer and as a good and humble man. My prayers and sympathies go out to Joe's  family during this time. May you find peace in your good memories. Rest in peace, Joe.

My condolences to Joe's family. Joe was so well respected (and liked) as a highly technical engineer at Harris. I worked with him for many years; he was always willing to "teach" as well as listen. It also saddens me that he passed away before retirement. I hope his family takes comfort knowing how much he was liked at respected in his profession.

Barb - I am so sorry for your loss; I understand it all too well. You've lost your best friend, your soul mate, and the wonderful father of your children. Grief doesn't end when the sympathy cards no longer arrive in the mail and the visitors have all returned home. My thoughts will be with you in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

I was lucky enough to have worked with Joe these last few months.  During this time, I experience his kindness, infinite patience, and sense of humor throughout our one on one discussions when he took the complex and made it simple. He would joke and say to me, "we'll go over this a couple hundred more times, ok?" but he wasn't joking. He would help, no matter how long it took, until I 'got it'.  And he helped me simply because he saw that I needed it, before I knew to even ask him.
I understand now when coworkers of ours refer to Joe as a 'good guy' and an 'amazing man'; I will carry that experience of working with him in my heart and mind.  

Joe, I miss you very much.

Joe was a friend and a mentor.  His sense of humor, tales of personal experiences, and his uncommon willingness to help others brought humanity and warmth to a business that can be technical and cold by nature. Joe's extensive knowledge of the system that he dedicated so much of his life to was legendary both at Harris and among our customer community. He was the first and last person to ask when I had a question on the system, and he always made time to explain things as many times as it took for me to catch on.  Several of our customers have responded to the news of Joe's passing with expressions of grief and their great appreciation for his countless contributions to their success; like the instance just a few months ago when Joe invented an innovative work around for another company's design flaw, and turned another potential disaster into a golden opportunity for Harris. Joe really was an amazing man.  I wish I could have known him better outside of the office. I miss him greatly.

I only talked to Joe a couple of times but he was a sweet and gentle man. Barb, you are very lucky to have him all those years. I hope you find comfort in the fact that you enjoyed a long life together.

Joe was a wonderful person, neighbor and friend. 
Always willing to help when asked a favor but it was the things that Joe did without anyone asking that made him so special.

We both came to work about the same time every morning, and we would exchange good natured ribbings with each other on the way to our offices.  I will miss him.

My great sympathy to his family.  May they find comfort in his memory in this time of sorrow.

Joe was always one of the "good guys". I talked with him every day. He knew his business better than anyone, and he earned the respect he got from others. A true professional and a friend. He will be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss, all of you.  Joe was a light and a support in your lives, and we will all miss him...

I am at a loss for words. Joe was my uncle, and although the last couple of years I haven't seen him much most of my childhood memories include him. He fed my passion for horses and always believed I could ride the biggest horse he had (even if my mom was shaking her head no). He was so kindhearted and patient with us kids running around his house. When I start game night with my family, I will remember the long hours we all use to play at your house. I'm great full these past two years I was able to see you more then I have in 10 years. I miss you and love you dearly Uncle Joe, may you rest in paradise (in a big shop working on cars and loving your horses). Forever in our hearts.

My Dad was the “strongest” man I knew. I was a particularly curious and active child, and I cannot tell you how many times my father “picked me up when I fell.”  Whether I'd just dumped turpentine on my head in the garage, fallen off my bike, tripped over my clip-on roller skates, been dumped off a horse, broken my leg (twice), Dad always swept me up and carried me to safety.  I am feeling so terribly sad that he is gone, but I know he will ALWAYS be carrying me.
I miss you and I love you, DAD!!!

To the family,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Joe was a great guy. Do not know if he ever told you his story about the window in his office.  However, I worked with Joe and was Landlord for the downstairs of Bldg 22 where he worked. I asked if he needed anything and he said  with a smile he wanted a window in his office.  Well downstairs in a vault that was impossible so I made it my mission to find a small glass window, found one, painted it white frame, got curtains for it and put a picture in the back of it with a farm house type setting and horses grazing in the foreground.
