My condolences to Mrs. Nevers and the family.  I have had so many great memorizes  with the Nevers and will miss him terrible.  I will be praying for the whole family.

          Leander , my brother  , although you left us without saying goodbye  our lives  go on , but nothing is the same. We have  to hide our heartache  when someone  speaks  your name. How can I even forget  your singing  in church , the many encores  you get  as  you and  the Trumpeters sang praises to the God you loved  so much.
       As the "historian " the family we could always  depend  on you  to tell us  relatives we  have not seen for  years.
       Sad are the hearts  that love  you . Silent  are  the tears that fall .
 Living  without  you  is the hardest  part of all.
     Those  years  when we were together will  not return  , but  the love  in our heart  , will  stay with us forever. 
    Our heart  felt condolences , thoughts  and prayers go out   to  your family and friends especially  to your  daughter Angela  during this difficult time.

As someone who has been a friend of Leander since childhood, it hurts to see him leave us. We shared many memorable times together. We reaped  his father’s bananas legitimately, but we also had our own stash that we kept until they ripened.  
We were both members of a boy’s quartet and we enjoyed belting our  version of many songs.

After childhood we both migrated and reconnected sometimes later in the States. We never lost touch after that. 
Remembering the song, “Be still my soul,  the Lord is on  thy side. In every change  he brings a brighter end”, brings back memories of our childhood days.

I pray that his soul rests in Eternal peace.

Leander was a lovely, caring person. 
 He truly loved my mother and treated her with respect and honour.  He was a great storyteller and I loved listening to him.  I find comfort in Psalm 37 v 11 - where it states that the "meek will inherit the earth"  He certainly was a meek and humble man.  
As he now rest and awaits for the fulfillment of John 5 v 28 to a resurrection of life.  
All the memories of you are captured in my heart, even though I am sad when I think of you I think of Joy & Peace

Precious memories how they linger.  How they ever flood my soul. In the stillness of the midnight, and the sacred past unfolds.  Leander and I grew up together attending the same school and Church.  We all had a lot of fun together.  
At an early age Leander gave  his heart to the Lord and so he became involved in the church.  He sang with a group of young men referred to as The Trumpeters and his voice was so melodious.  Leander, is a man with good character. He fought a good fight and now he’s gone to be with the Lord..  RIP my friend  until such time where we hope to meet again.  You will be dearly missed.

A Personal Message

Leander, ever since you came into my life over 40 years ago it has been my pleasure knowing you. 

It gives me so much joy to know that you loved my mother Miriam with all your heart, and I know she loved you right back.
I will miss the domino sessions in the back garden in Florida,  in the blistering heat, and you telling me that I can’t play dominos, thinking about it now I’m sure that was just to put me off my game.

You always made me smile knowing you could never pronounce your A’s, and E’s which were substituted with  H’s. Whenever you spoke about back home it would be “Hingland”

We had many conversations about your daughter Angela who I know you loved so much; I am smiling just listening to you now trying to say her name using a “H”.

You have always treated me like your biological son you never had.  You have been more of a father to me than my real father, for that I have the utmost respect for you Sir.

Words cannot express how much sadness I have and the void that now exist in my heart.

Leander, you will be deeply missed but NEVER forgotten.

Leander was one of my best friend.  We grew up together, attended the same church and we sang together. We were referred to as The Trumpeters.  I’m so saddened to know that he has passed but the Lord knows best.  Leander I will live to meet you in glory. In the dark of the midnight have I often hide my face,  while the storm flow above me and there’s no hiding place. Mid the crash of the thunder precious Lord hear my cry. Keep me safe till the storm passes by.  Leander, you ran the race and kept the faith. Rest In Peace  my friend . I really miss you.

You have been the most kind, considerate, genuine, caring, affectionate husband to me.  A wonderful soul, mere words cannot begin to express how I feel, now that you have left me in body, but I know you are with our father in heaven where your sprit lives on forever. 

Leander, no farewell words could be spoken, and no time to say goodbye, you are gone from me and only God knows why.

For 36 years we shared a union and fellowshipped together, we stood the test of time together and we walked the narrow road in faith, unity, love and in God’s Grace.
 
A true soldier for God with a divine angelic voice. May God keep you in his eternal loving care till we meet on the other side. Sleep well my love you will be forever in my memory and in my heart.

Leander, I know you loved the Lord and the Salvation Army. A true gentleman with the heart of gold.
Let us celebrate Leander’s wonderful life and remember the memories of him that make us all smile.

Memories of my dad 

Dad there’s is every memory of your love, kindness and care and the strength that I could count on if I ever I should fail, of the times I would ask for things but first be refused.  However,  it wouldn’t be long before you brought them home wrapped up in a pretty parcel and hidden under your arms. 

How could I forget the day you were baptised, you had joy in your face I had not witnessed before.  My eyes were filled with tears I fought hard to hold back,  I had no idea what it was all about but would love to retract 

I just wish to thank you for all the times we spent together and also the heart to heart talks on the phone 

May you find everlasting rest with your maker

We will miss Leander at church. I will never forget the time he stood and sang "It is well with my soul" during the testimonies. I will always think of him when I hear this. He was very kind to my grandchildren especially little Leonidas ("Leo").

The days of our years of three scores years and 10 and if by reason of strength that before score years yet is that strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

My last memory of Uncle Leander was on Leon’s 18th birthday , I decided to make it a “Bonding Tour” New York- Florida-Jamaica-New York.  When we arrived in Florida we were hosted by Uncle Leander and Aunt Miriam who wasted no time in making us fully comfortable with control of the upper floor of their home . Special Cooked breakfast every morning ( Miriam ☝🏾) and a multitude of sight seeing tours , not forgetting the “ turn mi pot down day”  eat as much as you wanted at the local restaurant...this was Team work in action . Our stay is one that Leon always refers too, one we will never forget. 
Uncle Leander was a confident , honest and firm believer in his words. “ If you didn’t agree to what he was saying .. his famous words were “ I’m putting it too you “  when he and Uncle George met up it was “ hell and powder house “ 🤣 .  I would like to conclude by saying “ One hand Can’t Clapp”  when we’re living like peas inna pod .. one hand wash the other !  
You will be greatly missed , sorry we didn’t get the opportunity to spend more time ....Sleep in Well !

What a fine and faithful soldier! Leander a servant of the Lord, serving as and usher at the Salvation Army and assisting other ministries as youth and Home League for many years. He was treasurer as part of the Corps Council and dedicated servant in any area he was asked to serve. Leander will be missed and remembered dearly for all his Salvation Army family and friends. 
A godly man with a joyful heart, he smile to everyone and loved to sing hymns at the congregation.  He volunteered uncountable hours serving and giving from his time and energy together with His wife Miriam, always faithful, always present, always early.  

Our dear Leander your desire to see your Heavenly Father is now a reality that comfort us while we hold the same hope.

He loved his family immensely, quite jovial he was and never loss for words..............
