Palm Bay: Leslie Edward Wood passed away peacefully, surrounded by all those who loved him deeply, on the 18th of June 2013. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria (Chatchew) Wood; his daughters Linda (Tomas) Anderson and Joanne (Robert) Jeter; his son Bill Wood and his grandchildren Ian, Ashley, Audrey and Eric Anderson and Brandon Wood. Born and raised in Endicott, NY, the son of Bert and Mildred Wood, he lived there until retirement at which time he moved to Florida. After graduating from Union Endicott High School Mr. Wood served in the army in the 82nd Airborne Division which specialized in parachute assault operations. He met his wife, Gloria Chatchew, at a popular local restaurant and they were married in 1952 at St. Ambrose Church. Soon after he took a job with the IBM Corporation and worked in the Purchasing department before taking an early retirement at the age of 57 after 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer and bowler all of his life and played them both at a high level right up until the end. This is what he loved to do and was happiest when out on the golf course or at the alleys. He always scored competitively and proudly hit a hole in one on August 31, 1990 and rolled a perfect 300 game bowling on October 27, 1991. Remarkably he later rolled a 299 game at the age of 72. A service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 am at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, FL.
