
Mr. Stapleton was born in Accoville, W.Va., on November 7, 1940, to the late George & Westie McComas Stapleton. He graduated from East Bank High School in 1958. He had a love for traveling and all sports with baseball and golf being his favorites. He worked for the US Postal Service at the Marmet W.Va. branch for many years. He retired at 52 years of age and relocated to Florida to enjoy many years on the golf course and being an active member of the community at Tropical Haven. He is also a US Air Force Veteran.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Keeney; brothers, Don Stapleton and Raymond Stapleton; brother-in-law, Edward Snodgrass; and a grandson, Dakota Stapleton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Snodgrass Stapleton, of Melbourne Fla.; daughter, Mary Susan and husband, Tim Cline, of Rock Hill, S.C.;two sons, Mark Stapleton, of Melbourne, Fla. and James "Jimmy" and wife, Amy Stapleton, of Racine, W.Va.; sisters, Ruth Rollins of Beckley, W.Va.and Sue Corder and husband, Jerry of Marmet, W.Va; grandchildren, Kaylee Stapleton and partner, Chris Montgomery, Tabatha Cline, Gannon Cline and Hannah Stapleton; many neices and nephews and a host of family and friends.
A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday December 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday December 22, 2012 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Tommy Holstein officiating.Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, W.Va.
The family will have a small reception following the service at Living Faith Church in Marmet.
