Olga Eddy, 86, of Palm Bay, Florida, a devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully at William Childs Hospice House on Monday, April 11, 2011 just 17 days after the death of her husband of 64 years.
Mrs. Eddy and her husband Wesley made Palm Bay their home in 1997 following a decade of retirement in Berwick, PA.
Olga met Wesley during WWII at a war plant in New York City where she was a munitions inspector. Her zest for life and strong work ethic led to much success in the business world. At J.C. Penney in the early 1960’s she received recognition for her outstanding sales efforts. She was especially proud of her career at the Waldorf Astoria where she was a member of the front office staff assisting numerous celebrities and dignitaries.
Her warm personality, gentle spirit and love for others were evident in Olga’s devotion to volunteerism. Both she and her husband until shortly before their deaths volunteered their time at William Childs Hospice House and for many years prior at Palm Bay Community Hospital.
Olga’s legacy is best stated by her favorite quote by Edward Bok. “Make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it.”
Mrs. Eddy is survived by her children Wesley (Mary) of North Ridgeville, Ohio and her daughters Irene Cronin (John) of Hauppauge, New York and Margaret (Ed) Sheffield of Palm Bay, Florida.
Befitting a lifetime of togetherness Olga and her husband will be interred at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island on the same day.
Friends planning expressions of sympathy are asked to consider a contribution to the William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Parkway, Palm Bay, Florida 32907.
