Sivele Harris was born in Jamaica, West Indies on July 1 (legally July 27th) 1927 to Rose Pearson and Richard Harris. She was the seventh out of eleven children (seven girls and four boys). In the early 60’s, she migrated to the United States and made her home in the Bronx, New York. There she lived and raised her nephew, Anthony O’Sullivan (Perry) as her son (who predeceased her). All while working as a CNA and attending school to get her GED.
She was very involved in her church.
She loved traveling, music, dancing, shopping, cooking and entertaining.
In 2004, she bought a home and moved to Palm Bay Florida. She became an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church until suffering with advanced Alzheimer’s.
Although she didn’t have children of her own, Sivele or (as affectionately known to her family) Aunt Syble loved her family and would frequently go to Jamaica and England for family visits. She would do anything for her (as she would put it) “35 nieces and nephews”
She was sharp tongued, smart witted and had a very strong sense of humor.
“Aunt Syble” is survived by her brother Osmond Harris, seven grandchildren, twenty-seven nieces and nephews, and countless great nieces and nephews.
